The Mitti Candle
In the old calendar, Sharad is the season after the rains — when the sky clears, the air cools, and the earth begins to smell of harvest and spice.
Sharad is a handpoured soy wax candle set inside a hand-thrown terracotta urli, sculpted with two miniature orange wax pumpkins, autumn maple leaves, a cinnamon bundle, and star anise — all embedded in a creamy white wax base. It doesn’t just scent a room. It changes the light in it.
Place it on a console, a dining table, or a low chowki. Light it once and let the warmth do the rest.
- Scent: Warm spice — cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and a base of dry cedarwood
- Vessel: Hand sculpted natural terracotta urli
- Wax: Premium soy wax blend
- Burn time: Approximately 25–30 hours | Wick: Single cotton wick
- Dimensions: ~10 cm diameter × 6 cm height | Weight: ~300g
- Care Instructions: Trim wick to 5mm before each burn. Allow wax to pool fully to the edges on first burn — approximately 2 hours. Keep away from drafts. The terracotta urli will warm to the touch — place on a heat-safe surface.
- ITrim the wick to 6mm before every burn to prevent soot and mushrooming.
- IIAllow the wax to melt to the edges on first use — this prevents tunnelling.
- IIIBurn for no more than 4 hours at a stretch. Let the candle cool fully before relighting.
- IVKeep away from drafts, direct sunlight, and children. Never leave unattended.
- VStop use when 1cm of wax remains. The vessel is yours to keep — rinse with warm water and reuse.
